MARTIN, Antonio J. 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Santa Rosa, CA on November 6, 2017. Tony was born in Forestville on February 25, 1928 to Antonio and Josephine Martin. Preceded in death by his parents and sisters Julia Kozlowski (Frank), Mary Burdo, and Angela Marsh (Harry). He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn; son, Ron Martin (Sue), daughters Marianne Campbell (Scott) and Sharon Mannie (Erik); grandchildren Rebecca, Stephanie, Carrie, Andriana, Leah, Lucas, Katie, Thomas, Angela, and Jacob; great-grandchildren Jaxon, Zachary, Samantha, Jack, Bonnie, and Cody; and his brother Michael Martin (Judy). Tony lived in Sonoma County all his life, graduated from Analy High School in 1945, worked as an apple farmer, and served on the board of the Sebastopol Apple Growers Union. In 1978 the Forestville Chamber of Commerce named him Man of the Year. He also worked for over 30 years as a licensed general contractor building many beautiful custom homes throughout Sonoma County and Hidden Valley Lake. He was a regular member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and in later years transferred his membership to St. Mark Lutheran Church. He was active in local civic activities but was especially proud of his 33 years with the Boy Scouts of America working up from pack leader to commissioner with Troop 150. He also oversaw the local Explorer Scout Search and Rescue unit and was later hired by the Boy Scouts to serve as the Camp Masonite-Navarro ranger, a job he loved. Tony spent his final years enjoying his family, editing the newsletter in his mobile home park community, and dozing in his favorite recliner. There will be a memorial service for Tony on Sunday, November 12th at 4:00 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church.
