It was there that she met Jack Stucky who was completing his residency as a radiologist. They fell in love were married after a 6 month courtship. They enjoyed a very happy 60 year marriage.
Eileen loved New Orleans and her family and was very sad to leave it all to move to Modesto, CA in 1950 where Jack partnered with George Feher to found Modesto Radiological Associates. Although she missed her family and home, Eileen embraced her new role as a wife and mother. She became a fantastic cook and hostess. She was a devotee of The French Chef in the 60s and channeled Julia in her role as the family cook. She and Jack loved to travel and spent many weekends with their children in Carmel and San Francisco as well as enjoying long road trips during the summer
Eileen was a warm, honest, loving woman. She always made everyone in her path feel special and loved. From the postman to the delivery person to fellow shoppers in the grocery store, everyone experienced her capacity for and dedication to spreading love.
Both her grandmother and mother were devout Lutherans and Eileen attended St. John Church in New Orleans with them throughout her early years. When she moved to Modesto, she joined Grace Lutheran where she was an active participant for 56 years. Upon moving to Sebastopol in 2006, she was welcomed into Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, where she spent her last happy years. Eileen’s faith carried her through all the ups and downs of her life and was very important to her.
Eileen is survived by her daughter Gretchen Chertov of Sebastopol and her granddaughters, Zoë and Manna; son John Stucky, his wife Gail of Palo Alto and her grandsons, Peter and Zan and one great-granddaughter, Millefiori. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Jack in 2007 and her son, Eric Waltzer Stucky in 1960. Donations may be made in her memory to Mt.
