DUNNE, Dr. Peter Francis “Frank” Died peacefully in his sleep on September 30, 2017 in Sonoma, CA at the age of 81. Frank is survived by his wife Suzanne Merrill Dunne; children, Shane Dunne, Laurie Benson, Sidney Merrill, Morgan Merrill; siblings, Diedre Flynn and Joanne Foley of Dublin, Ireland; and known as “Papa” by his nine grandchildren. Frank was born on May 30, 1936 in Dublin, Ireland to Patrick and Nancy Dunne. He graduated from Columbia Pacific University in 1987 with a degree in Arts. He married Suzanne Merrill in 1984. After moving to Sebastopol, Frank began working for The County of Sonoma, serving the community as a mediator. His children remember him as a driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Frank was an avid golfer and played often prior to his illness. He was an individual who loved to travel, could tell a good story and who was passionate about the arts. He was an active and dedicated member of St. Sebastian Church. A funeral is scheduled for October 6, 2017 viewing from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., service and burial at 12 p.m. at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park, with a reception to follow at Gravenstein Grille. Pather Dalton will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Frank’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer’s Association.
